… his mother’s flattened palms traced the edges of a linen shirt, showing him off like he was a prize to be won. Beads of sweat trickling down his smooth cheeks made him look like a peach freshly plucked from the field. He was earning a six-figure salary, working at Goldman Sachs, and had prospects of moving abroad —a wholesome piece of fruit at that, a prize indeed.
